Beach School

We are very fortunate to be situated only a stone’s throw away from Bracklesham Bay beach which is why we are pleased to announce the start-up of Beach School.

Beach School allows children the opportunity to learn, play and explore in a different environment. It offers a unique opportunity to support children’s learning and development by extending their learning environment and encouraging children to use the limited resources they have to learn. During our Beach School sessions, we will be using the beach as an independent resource to play; whilst also taking resources with us, for example books, buckets and spades, and equipment to make shelters.

Beach School promotes the development of all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, encouraging children to communicate, identify similarities and differences, count, make connections, build and sort, observe the environment and create mark making.

Beach School will be running for 3 sessions a week, which will last approximately 2 hours at a time. Each session will be spent entirely on the beach in small groups with a minimum of 2 members of staff. During our Beach School sessions snacks and drinks will be provided. We ask parents to provide their children with a named pair of welly boots which will be kept at nursery; we will be providing all in one waterproof suits, however if you wish to provide one for your child please name this and we can keep that here at Ladybirds too.

In order to conduct our trip to the beach we shall be walking there and back.  Each child will be wearing a high visibility jacket to ensure their safety. Risk assessments have been made to ensure the highest level of safety for all children and staff to enjoy Beach School.
